I am trained in adult psychiatry. My approach assumes that there are multiple intersecting ways to understand people, including (but not limited to) biological, developmental, situational, and spiritual. These have a blending, and dynamic, influence on our experience and sense of meaning. My aim in working with students is to consider this plurality in order to understand the origin of one’s distress and to develop a path forward. In another universe, I would probably be either the shortstop for the New York Yankees or a behavioral economist. Since I lack the aptitude to do either, I will keep trying my best as a physician.
